Evening classes at West Campus for July 3 have been relocated to Kendall Campus, 11011 SW 104th St., after a water main break near the Doral-based campus forced the cancelation of classes the previous day.
Miami Dade College’s Twitter account said: “It is anticipated classes and operations will resume at West Campus Thursday, July 5.”

The issue started on July 2 when a contractor, conducting ongoing excavation in the area, struck a 24-inch Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department water pipe, according to a Miami-Dade County press release. The accident caused massive flooding that shutdown NW 41th St. between 115th Ave. and 117th Ave. near the Florida Turnpike. It also left West Campus without water, functional restrooms and chiller operations, according to MDC officials.
The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department set a Precautionary Boil Water Order, advising residents living on NW 34th St. to NW 41st St., NW 41st to NW 42nd St., NW 107th Ave. to NW 109th Ave. and NW 107th Ave. to NW 136th Place, to boil drinking water for at least one minute until further notice.
“Please be advised that residents that live by the affected area may experience cloudy or discolored water,” said Miami-Dade County Commissioner José Pepe Díaz on Twitter. “@MiamiDadeWater is strongly suggesting to let the water run for a few minutes to clear the sediment.
