North Campus, in collaboration with the Florida Humanities Council, will present Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America at the North Campus Art Gallery, 11380 N.W. 27 Ave., Room 5107 through June 15th.
The exhibition will document Florida’s sports history, and its connection to gender and racial issues in the state. It focuses on the United States’ passion for sports, especially on a local scale. It will consist of photography, audio and video content intended to capture the pride and loyalty sports fans feel for their favorite teams.
Hometown Teams, a traveling exhibition, will be presented by the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum on Main Street program. The program will travel to more than 180 cities in 30 states throughout the course of six years in order to capture the community spirit of sports.
The North Campus Art Gallery is open Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
