Honors College Dean Selected As Aspen Presidential Fellow

Pascale Charlot, dean of The Honors College, has been selected as an Aspen Presidential Fellow for the upcoming 2019-2020 class.

Charlot, who received the award on April 12, will begin the ten-month fellowship in July. She will participate in three residential sessions, receive leadership mentoring and complete a Capstone Project.

“I’m very excited,” Charlot said. “I think it’s important for leadership voices to represent different kinds of experiences.”

The Aspen Presidential Fellowship recognizes leaders in higher education committed to transforming community colleges to ensure student success. Charlot, one of 40 candidates to receive the fellowship, was selected for her abilities to take strategic risks, lead students and cultivate partnerships.  

As Honors College Dean, Charlot has overseen the program’s administration across four Miami Dade College campuses’ for seven years. She received bachelor’s degrees in sociology and economics from Duke University in 1991 and later pursued a juris doctorate from the University of Michigan in 1996.
