Man Baker Acted After Police Said He Threatened To Bring A Gun To North Campus

A man was Baker Acted after he threatened to bring a gun to North Campus, according to Miami-Dade Police.

The incident was reported to police at around 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Classes at North Campus, located at 11380 N.W. 27th Ave., were suspended that evening as a precaution.

Miami-Dade Police Detective Christopher Thomas said the man, who College officials said is a Miami Dade College student, made the threat in conversation with a relative, who reported the incident.

This is the fourth threat that MDC has received since the start of the fall semester.

Last October, police responded to a handwritten note with a cryptic message that was plastered outside the Miami Animation and Gaming International Complex at Wolfson Campus.

In December, Salman Rashid, a former student at MDC, pled guilty in federal court for allegedly plotting an attack against two deans at MDC and Broward College. The attack was being planned in the fall semester, according to court documents.

Last month, a threat was made against public safety officers college-wide.

We will update this story as more information is available.
