Manolo Barco, 48, is entering his 14th year as media adviser to Miami Dade College’s student newspaper. Barco has worked as a criminal justice reporter at the Dallas Morning News in Texas and as a staff writer at the Miami Herald. His work has also appeared on the sports pages of the South Florida Sun Sentinel. A graduate of Florida International University and Miami Dade College’s North Campus, Barco served as editor-in-chief of the now-defunct Falcon Times in 1994.

Aracelia Diez, 38, serves as the student media assistant for The Reporter training students in design and website maintenance. Diez has an associate in science degree in graphic design technology from Miami Dade College and a bachelor of fine arts in graphic design from Florida Atlantic University. While at MDC, she served as art director for The Reporter during the 2013 – 2014 school year. She aspires to be part of an editorial design team or printing studio.
