Paper Children —an hour-long documentary that chronicles the life of four siblings that fled gang violence in Honduras, and emigrated to the United States in hopes of attaining political asylum—is streaming for free on Youtube.
Filmmaker Alexandra Codina’s documentary premiered at the 37th annual Miami Film Festival on March 8. Paper Children was nominated for the Knight Made in MIA Feature Film Award and the Toyota Documentary Feature Audience Award.
“We have a difficult system for new immigrants to navigate,” said Jaie Laplante, executive director of the Miami Film Festival. “For our community, it helps us to understand the human impact of our current government policies and helps each one of us make a personal decision about how we feel about those policies.”
