Miami Dade College Professor Ed Calle Wins Latin Grammy

Ed Calle, a full tenured professor of music business and production at Miami Dade College, won Best Instrumental Album for Dr. Ed Calle Presents Mamblue, during the 16th Annual Latin Grammy Awards.

Calle is an internationally-acclaimed jazz performer, composer and arranger who was born in Caracas, Venezuela and immigrated to the U.S. in 1968. He studied music at Miami-Dade County public schools and began his music career at the age of 15.

His album, Dr. Calle Presents Mamblue, was written as a tribute to the city of Miami to highlight the city’s cultural history. The album is an Afro-Cuban jazz piece which features more than 115 influential jazz and studio musicians, as well as students, faculty, and staff.
