Five MDC Students Receive $8,000 Aviation Scholarship

Five pilot technology students at Miami Dade College’s Eig-Watson School of Aviation were awarded the prestigious Timothy E. Johnson Jr. Scholarship.

The recipients of the $8,000 prize are Eliseo De La Campa Perez, Jorge Calana, Lily McCarthy, Jordan Ripley and Ryan Vidal.

Established in 2013, the scholarship honors pilot Timothy Johnson Jr. who passed away in an aviation accident the year before. It was his family’s way to help others carry his legacy.

Since its inception, more than 40 MDC students have been awarded the scholarship. Last year, seven students from the Eig-Watson School of Aviation received the scholarship.
