Maria Denise Mera Selected As Director Of New Student Center At North Campus

Maria Denise Mera has been selected as the new director of the New Student Center at North Campus. She started in her new post on Aug. 2.

Mera, 45, will work with the New Student Center to help incoming students adjust to college life through orientation sessions and events on and off-campus. Before coming to North Campus, she worked as assistant dean of students at Medical Campus for almost nine years.

“I hope to promote a culture of growth and success for our students and employees while providing support and stellar customer service,” Mera said.

Before joining Miami Dade College, she worked at the College of the Florida Keys—formerly known as Florida Keys Community College—as the assistant director of Human Resources for more than five years.

Mera graduated from Florida International University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2006. Nine years later, she received a master’s degree in business administration and is working toward a doctoral degree in educational leadership at Trident University International.
