NBC’s Today Show Comes To Miami Culinary Institute

Miami Dade College’s Miami Culinary Institute (MCI), served as the backdrop for NBC’s Today Show segment about a potential Velveeta cheese shortage on January 8.

Kerry Sanders, NBC correspondent, conducted a segment that featured a Velveeta cheese dip prepared by MCI Chair, Chef Collen Engle.

Kraft, the makers of Velveeta, said that “consumers may not be able to find some Velveeta products on shelves over the next couple of weeks.”

With Super Bowl Sunday approaching, consumers are worried that they won’t be serving dip with their nachos on the big day.

Peter Shankman, marketing consultant for Shankman.com, said that the sudden shortage could just be a tactic for consumers to stock up while they can.

“The chances of them actually running out of cheese before the biggest day of the year seems a little far-fetched,” Shankman said.
