New York City based dancer and choreographer Camille A. Brown will perform Feb. 20 at 8 p.m. in the Miami-Dade County Auditorium, 2901 W. Flagler St., as a part of MDC Live Arts programming.

Black Girl: Linguistic Play is Brown’s first show in Miami with her company, Camille A. Brown & Dancers. It is based on her upbringing, dance styles and perspective on black womanhood.

The dance features a rhythmic play of double-dutch, tap, stepping, ring shout and other African American social dances.

“The show will talk about race, gender, identity issues and its context,” said Kathryn Garcia,  executive director of MDC Live Arts. “We are always trying to bring the best artists from around the world to Miami for performances. Our vision is for the community and students at MDC to engage in educational activities with artists like Camille.”

Tickets cost $10 for MDC students with an ID, for online purchases, use code: (mdcstu), and $25 for general public admission on the website: mdclivearts.org/shows/camille.html
