North And Hialeah Campuses Appoint Chair of Continuing Education

Sunyen Lee was selected as the chair of the School of Continuing Education at North and Hialeah campuses. She began her role on Aug. 28.

Her duties include providing leadership and direction to the department while creating new educational programs and courses that align with today’s workforce trends and students’ needs.

“I am excited to be able to serve our students and the college in a different capacity while making a positive impact in our community,” said Lee, a New World School of the Arts alumnae.

Prior to her appointment, the 42-year-old was the assistant to the dean of faculty at Wolfson Campus from April of 2019 to August of 2023. She also served as an adjunct professor in the music department at Kendall Campus and the NWSA for more than 10 years.

Outside of Miami Dade College, Lee is the artistic director for Crescendo Music Center, a music school she founded in 2003. Additionally, Lee served as the music director at Doctors Charter School of Miami Shores from August of 2007 to June of 2010.

Lee graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in music in 2005. Two years later, she earned a master’s degree in classical music from the Manhattan School of Music. 

Nikole Valiente

Nikole Valiente, 21, is a mass communication/journalism major at North Campus. Valiente, who graduated from City of Hialeah Educational Academy in 2022, will serve as managing editor for The Reporter during the 2024-25 school year. She was the paper's editor-in-chief last year and aspires to work as a journalist.
