52nd Annual Fred Shaw Poetry Contest Open For Submissions

The Academy of American Poets, a non-profit organization based in New York City that promotes poetry, is accepting submissions for the annual Fred Shaw Poetry Contest until March 15.

Celebrating its 52nd year, the contest seeks to honor Fred Shaw, a poetry lover who served as Kendall Campus’ academic dean before passing away on Jan 2. 1972.

Participants must submit their work to Anthony Moreno at amoreno1@mdc.edu and include their name, mailing address, student ID and phone number.

The first-place winner will receive $100, second-place will get $75 and third-place will receive $50.

Winners will be announced in late April through SharkNet.
