Hialeah Campus To Host Next GOGO MOAD Event

The Museum of Art and Design’s free children’s educational program, GOGO, will host a workshop entitled Neighborhood Photography at the art gallery at Hialeah Campus, 1780 W. 49th St., on Feb. 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Miami artist Lorie Ofir will lead the workshop. It’s influenced by Remaking Miami: Josefina Tarafa’s Photographs of the 1970s, an exhibition that showcases how Cuban immigrants  transformed Miami.

“It’s important to know about your neighborhood, learn what’s special about your neighborhood and notice your surroundings instead of just walking by really fast,” said MOAD GOGO spokesperson Sierra Manno. “You can appreciate and champion your neighborhood better.”

Participants are encouraged to bring their own camera, but two polaroid cameras will be available for participants to capture photos that feature what their hometowns means to them.

The event is free and open to the public.
