School of Science Accepting Applications For STEM Research Institute

The School of Science’s Summer 2025 STEM Research Institute is accepting applications until March 30. 

The internship will take place from May 19 to Aug. 10. Students will be involved in research and participate in career exploration and personal development workshops. 

Applicants must be United States citizens or permanent residents, have a minimum 2.5 GPA, be a science, technology, engineering or math  degree-seeking student with at least six credits completed in any of the STEM disciplines.

Aspiring participants must submit an essay pertaining to their interest in the program, unofficial transcripts, a completed Federal Aid Financial Student Aid 2024-25 Form and at least one letter of recommendation from a professor.

During the internship, students must be enrolled in at least three credits at MDC.

Sean Yakobson, 25, is a film major at North Campus. Yakobson, who graduated from Alonzo & Tracy Mourning Senior High School in 2017. Yakobson will serve as a forum writer and photographer for The Reporter during the 2025-26 school year. Merging his passion for literature, cinema and animation, he aspires to be a storyteller working as filmmaker and author.
