MDC District Board Of Trustees Swears In Two New Members

José Félix Díaz and Juan Segovia were sworn-in as members of Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees on Sept 16.

They join Chair Michael Bileca, Vice Chair Roberto Alonso and trustee Ismare Monreal.

Díaz has served as co-founder of the Miami Tech Summit since April 2022 and is currently the executive vice president and managing partner at Ballard Partners, a lobbying firm.

He previously served in the Florida House of Representatives, representing Districts 115 and 116. Díaz was a part of the board of various non-profit organizations including the Children’s Trust of Miami-Dade, the Cuban-American Bar Association and the Zoo Miami Foundation. 

Díaz has a bachelor’s degree in political science and English from the University of Miami and a law degree from Columbia University. 

Segovia is a homicide detective in the Cold Case Unit for the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office and a crisis and hostage negotiator. 

He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a master’s degree in international disaster management from Florida International University.

The board’s next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 21, at the Wolfson Campus, 300 N.E. Second Ave.,  in Room 3210

Nathalia Marcano

Nathalia Marcano Ramos, 18, is a pre-nursing major in The Honors College at North Campus. Marcano Ramos, who graduated from Charles W. Flanagan High School in 2025, will serve as a briefing writer for The Reporter during the 2025-2026 school year. She aspires to be a nurse practitioner.
