MDC Is Providing Free Tax Preparation Assistance

Six Miami Dade College campuses—Kendall, Eduardo J. Padrón, North, Wolfson, Homestead and Hialeah—are providing free tax preparation services through the Internal Revenue Service’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.

IRS-certified volunteers will assist taxpayers in the community with the electronic filing of tax returns for free.

The program is available to people who earned $67,000 or less in 2025. It is administered through the Miguel B. Fernandez School of Global Business, Trade and Transportation.

Each campus has different operational hours. For campus-specific information, visit https://www.mdc.edu/vita/. Services will be available from Feb. 4 through Apr. 15.

To participate,  required materials include a photo ID, a social security card, a W-2 earnings statement, a 1098-T tuition form, a 1095-A health insurance marketplace statement form and any documents regarding the expenses to be claimed.

Participants must also provide birth dates for the filer and dependents, mortgage interest and property tax statements and a copy of last year’s federal and state return. Federal returns must be postmarked by April 15.
