MDC District Board of Trustees Adds New Member
David Smith was appointed to Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees on Jan 30.
He joins Chair Michael Bileca, Vice Chair Roberto Alonso, and trustees Jose Felix Diaz, Marcell Felipe, Ismare Monreal and Juan Segovia.
Smith currently works as a special assistant to the combat commander and speechwriter for the U.S. Southern Command. He also serves in the United States Marine Corps Reserve as a civil affairs officer and judge advocate.
The 40-year-old was an assistant state attorney under Miami-Dade County State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle from 2013 to 2016.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Miami in 2006 and a juris doctor from Suffolk University in 2009.
