Investigative Reporter Daniel Rivero Of WLRN To Speak at MDC Journalism Speaker Series

Daniel Rivero, an investigative reporter at WLRN, will be the second guest of the 2026 MDC Journalism Speaker Series on March 20.

The event will take place at 11 a.m. at Wolfson Campus, 300 N.E. Second Ave, in Room 1610.

Rivero started at WLRN as a part-time social media specialist in 2011 before becoming a digital reporter at Fusion in 2013 for nearly five years. He is now on WLRN’s investigative reporting team.

“I don’t think we are ever going to be in a world without journalism,” Rivero said. “The fun part about this job is that what you are passionate about, you can turn it into a job and write about it.”

Rivero has won Murrow Awards, Sunshine State Awards and Green Eyeshade Awards.

He earned a bachelor of arts degree in English language and literature in 2010 from Florida International University and an associate arts degree from Miami Dade College in 2006.

The MDC Journalism Speaker Series was launched to provide students an opportunity to meet and network with working journalists. Since 2008, more than 88 journalists have appeared.
