North Campus Welcomes New Public Safety Chief

Julio Vasquez-Oller, who has more than 15 years experience in crisis management, incident response and emergency preparedness, was appointed as public safety chief at North Campus on June 8.

His duties include ensuring campus safety, training public safety officers, responding to emergencies, and keeping people informed on what’s going on around campus.

“It is a great atmosphere. I see a lot of team players around, people helping out, reaching out, [and] calling me,” Vasquez-Oller said. “It’s been a great first impression.”

Prior to his current role, Vasquez-Oller served as director of security with Marriott International and as a director of safety and security at the Ritz-Carlton. He also served as Chair of the South Florida Loss Prevention Business Council from 2016 to 2022.

He has certifications in lodging security supervision, as a terrorism liaison officer, OSHA 10 general industry safety and health, first aid and crowd control management.
