The Reporter Selects New Arts & Entertainment Editor

Samira Karieva, a mass communication/journalism major at Wolfson Campus, was appointed as arts & entertainment editor of The Reporter for the 2025-26 academic year.

She will oversee a team of six writers in the A&E section. Her duties include scheduling, writing and editing content weekly.

“It feels great to take on a bigger role in the newspaper,” Karieva said. “I hope to strengthen this section and continue bringing quality stories.”

The 19-year-old joined The Reporter during the spring, developing into one of the paper’s top A/E writers. She’s written articles discussing the recognition of horror films at the Academy Awards and the controversial work of TV director Ryan Murphy.

Karieva has also contributed to the paper as a news writer. Her stories have included a feature on Behind the MAGIC, a podcast at the Miami Animation & Gaming International Complex and an article on the new career closet at Wolfson Campus.

She graduated from Alonzo and Tracy Mourning Senior High School in 2025 and aspires to work in the publishing industry.
