Miami Dade College volleyball player Eleonora Gicheva was named setter of the week for the sixth time this season by the Florida College System Activities Association.
Gicheva, a 5-foot-8 sophomore from Bulgaria, was awarded the honor on Oct.6. She previously won the accolade on Aug. 25 and Sept. 8, 15 ,22 and 29.
The 19-year-old is averaging 9.36 assists through 17 matches. She also has 1.97 kills, 2.24 digs, 0.58 service aces and 0.46 blocks per match.
Gicheva signed a scholarship offer to play at Barry University in Miami Shores next season.
The Lady Sharks, who are 17-0, are the top-ranked team in the country in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I polls.
