MDC Galleries Starting Fresh

Miami Dade College’s newly named Museum of Art + Design, previously known as the Art Gallery System, debuted it’s 2012-13 season on Thursday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. with two acclaimed artists: Jaimie Warren and Elena Sisto.

Warren’s exhibition, The WHOAS Female Tragedy, will showcase several works from the artist collected throughout the years, such as historical paintings, photoshopped collages of art-historical paintings and visual pairings of pop culture icons, as well as collaborations with other artists.

Sisto’s exhibition, Between Silver Light and Orange Shadow, will showcase 28 paintings created over the past 10 years. The paintings depict autobiographical images of Sisto’s students and women she has come across throughout the years.

The WHAOS Female Tragedy will be open through Oct. 27, and Between Silver Light and Orange Shadow will be open through Nov. 2.

Both are located at the Freedom Tower, 600 Biscayne Blvd., and are free and open to the public.
