College President Wins Nationally-Acclaimed Award

On Nov. 3, Miami Dade College President Eduardo J. Padrόn became a recipient of the Carnegie Corporation Academic Leadership Award, along with University of Maryland President Freeman A. Hrabowski III.

In celebration of the foundation’s 100th year, two separate leaders were honored together for the first time.

The nationally acclaimed award, which was founded in 2005, recognizes individuals who go beyond fulfilling their duties as administrators of undergraduate institutions for their dedication to innovative curriculum and community involvement.

Each honoree was awarded $500,000, to be used without restriction for academic initiatives at their respective institutions.
