Former Reporter Art Director Selected As Finalist For ACP Design Award

Anadaniela Garcia, who served as Art Director for The Reporter last year, has been selected as a finalist in the Newspaper Page One design category by the Associated Collegiate Press. Winners will be announced on Oct. 31 at the ACP/CMA National College Media Convention in Austin, Texas.

Entries were selected from content that was produced during the 2014-15 school year. Garcia is the only student from a two-year school selected as a finalist.

Garcia, 21, went from junior designer to Art Director during her two years at The Reporter. In  October, the Florida College System Publications Association awarded her a first-place award in design.

She earned her associate in arts degree in 2014 while attending the Honors College at Wolfson Campus. Last year, Garcia took design courses at MDC while serving as Art Director at The Reporter.

Garcia currently has a full-time job with The Forum Publishing Group, which is owned by the Sun Sentinel.  She designs pages for newspapers and magazines connected with The Forum Publishing Group and serves as a copy editor.
