Volunteer In Honor Of 9/11 Victims And Heroes

9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance invites Miami Dade College students to register to volunteer Sept. 10 from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Amelia Earhart Park, 401 E 65th St., for landscaping, beautification, clean-up, and painting service projects around the park.

“The goal of the event is to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the tragedy of 9/11 in honoring the victims and heroes,” said Harold Silva North and Hialeah Campus Center for Community Involvement Coordinator. “The service provided by the volunteers will be a significant contribution to the sustainability of the park and the environment.”

Project activities include landscaping the main public areas, painting the sports complex building, and conducting clean-ups at the Animal Farm, Dog Park, and other sections of the park.

By volunteering students can acquire community service and service-learning hours through the CCI office.
