Bill Cosby’s Squeaky-Clean Image Takes A Hit

Comedian Bill Cosby, known for his role as Cliff Huxtable on The Cosby Show and creating the children show Little Bill,  is facing a firestorm of controversy after more than 20 women have accused him of sexual assault.

Cosby has never been charged criminally in any of the cases.

But the allegations became the topic of discussion and public record when fellow comedian Hannibal Buress repeatedly called Bill Cosby a “rapist” during a stand-up act in Philadelphia on Oct. 16, 2014.

In an attempt to downgrade the severity of the situation at hand, Cosby’s social media team asked for followers to make humorous Cosby memes, which backfired, resulting to more rape jokes surfacing on Twitter.

Multiple television appearances and comedy shows were cancelled as more and more women came out stating that Cosby drugged and raped them.

Many admirers of Cosby and his legacy cannot fathom the thought of him committing such despicable acts.

While scrolling down my Facebook newsfeed, I noticed a friend post a Cosby related status which read, “Bill Cosby and Heathcliff Huxtable are not the same person!”

While it is difficult to forget all the lessons that were learned from such a family-friendly show, it is necessary to objectively view this situation.

Model Beverly Johnson is one of the more well-known accusers to say Cosby sexually assaulted her. I believe that there may be some truth to these accusations because of the similarities of each victim’s story.

On the other hand, there is also the other side of the argument, “What if all these women fabricated this story to destroy Bill Cosby’s image?”

Only one person knows the truth and he will not address the situation, so we can only speculate.

Lately, however, other childhood stars have made media headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Just this weekend, Ricardo Medina Jr. was arrested for allegedly murdering his roommate after getting into an argument and stabbing him in the abdomen with a sword.

Medina Jr. is known for having played in Power Rangers Wild Force as The Red Wild Force Ranger in 2002 and later in 2011 as Deker in Power Rangers Samurai.

Stephen Collins, who played as father and Pastor Eric Camden on the hit television series 7th Heaven, also filled the tabloids in 2014. He stands accused of sexually abusing three underaged girls.
