BTS’ Jungkook Is ‘Golden’ With Debut Solo Album

K-Pop’s golden boy has made a splash on the global music scene. Jungkook, the youngest member of BTS made his solo debut in November with the release of his long anticipated pop album Golden.

The 11-track project makes for an easy 31-minute listen. Golden opens with the previously released single 3D featuring Jack Harlow. The track has a pop-centered catchy rhythm. Jungkook’s voice starts off strong and delivers a feel good tone. Throughout the track the artist changes his voice to introduce transitions.

Golden’s main track Standing Next to You is groovy disco pop at its best. It showcases Jungkook’s vocal range in an effortless manner. His vocals take center stage, weaving through the harmonies and delivering an evocative performance that resonates with raw emotion.

Choreographed by Keone Madrid, the visuals in Standing Next to You  pay homage to Michael Jackson with the implementations of a swivel moonwalk and sharp movements.

Showcasing the artist in a dark blue sparkling suit, Jungkook fully embodies the essence of his solo status. The production quality is truly exceptional and collaborations with talented producers such as Banx Ranx and Jon Bellion make the album a timeless masterpiece.

Transitioning seamlessly from upbeat pop tunes to mellower introspective tracks, Golden presents a diverse range of musical styles. The track Closer To You offers a euphoric feel with notes that digress into a faster paced raplike tone.

B-side tracks Somebody and Shot Glass Full of Tears are my personal favorites. The first 40 seconds of Somebody will have you questioning whether there is another artist featured on the track, brilliantly demonstrating Jungkook’s massive vocal range.

Shot Glass Full of Tears delves into personal introspection. The melodramatic oxymoron lyrics combined with the echoed effect of the artist’s vocals offers listeners a glimpse into Jungkook’s journey and struggles.

Golden is a triumph for Jungkook as a solo artist. It showcases his musical capabilities by highlighting his emotional depth. With the album, Jungkook not only delivers exceptional music but also leaves a lasting impression on listeners, making Golden a must-listen for music enthusiasts everywhere.
