Fifteen MDC Students Named To All-Florida Academic Team

Fifteen students from Miami Dade College were selected by the Florida College System to the 2021 All-Florida Academic Team. They will be recognized at a virtual award ceremony on April 23. 

The All-Florida Academic Team is sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges and academic programs.

Winners represent five MDC campuses:

  • Hialeah Campus: Kenrik Chirinos, Heily Rivas, Ada Mojica and Dagoberto Romero.
  • North Campus: Mohamad Auckbaraullee, Shena Haughton, Abigail Losada and Nicholas Pérez.
  • Eduardo J. Padrón Campus: Helen Menéndez, Elías Marcet and Danilo Navarro Espinosa.
  • Homestead Campus: Fabiana Montiel and Jada Watkins.
  • West Campus: Thomas Bezombe and Natalia Moreno.

Students were recognized based on their academic accomplishments, leadership skills and community service throughout 2020. A total of 137 students from 28 institutions in the Florida College System will take part in the ceremony.

Oriana Rodriguez, 17, is a dual enrollment student at West Campus. Rodriguez, who is a senior at Ronald W. Reagan/Doral Senior High School, will serve as a staff writer for The Reporter during the 2020-2021 school year. She aspires to be a journalist or a lawyer.
