First Student-Led Hackathon To Take Place At North Campus

North Campus’ INIT chapter is hosting Miami Dade College’s first-ever student-led hackathon at the School of Justice, 11380 N.W. 27th Ave.(rooms to be announced) from Nov. 7-9. 

Participants will learn about new technologies, partake in innovative projects, get internship opportunities and network with experts in fields including software engineering, cyber security, artificial intelligence and game development. 

Competitors must be 18 years or older. 

The three-day event is expected to span 36 hours and include around 300 attendees. During the first day, groups of three will work on their projects and attend workshops. 

On the second day, the teams will develop their projects with assistance from tech experts. Participants will demonstrate their projects to judges on the final day. 

Winners will receive prizes that include video game consoles, sponsor merchandise and computers. 

INIT is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing underrepresented communities access to learning and job opportunities in the world of technology. They have more than 150 members across all eight MDC campuses.
