Former Shark Selected In 19th Round Of 2026 MLB Draft By The Seattle Mariners

Michael Petite, who played for the Miami Dade College baseball team during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons, was drafted in the 19th round of the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft by the Seattle Mariners. 

The outfielder signed with the Mariners organization on July 21 and was assigned to the team’s Rookie-level Arizona Complex League team.

As a freshman at MDC, Petite had a .291 batting average with nine home runs, 35 RBI and 20 stolen bases. During his sophomore campaign, he was selected to the Citrus Conference First-Team after slugging 12 HRs, 41 RBI, stealing 22 bases and posting a .367 BA.

This past season, Petite had 14 HRs, 43 RBI, 22 SBs and a .274 batting average for Virginia Commonwealth University.
