Four Lady Sharks Selected To Citrus Conference Second-Team

Miami Dade College softball players Alexis Ortega, Gabriela Luz, Carina Amarilla and Ty Marie Cervantes were selected to the Citrus Conference Second-Team by the Florida College System Athletic Association.

Ortega, an infielder, posted a .279 batting average with four home runs and 28 RBI; Luz, a catcher, had a team-leading .294 batting average and Cervantes, a first baseman, had a .291 batting average with two home runs and 14 RBI.

Amarilla, a starting pitcher, had a 6-12 record with a 4.90 earned run average and 88 strikeouts. 

The Lady Sharks finished the season with a 20-31-1 record.

She was the paper's editor-in-chief last year and aspires to work as a journalist.
