Free Comic Book Making Workshop At Koubek Center

Cuban-American author Jarod Roselló will teach teenagers to make comic strips during a free workshop on March 14.

The event, for ages 13-18, will be held at the Koubek Center, 2705 S.W. 3rd St., at 1 p.m.

Prior experience is not required. Supplies like paper, pens and art materials will be provided at the workshop.

Roselló has published two graphic novels, Red Panda & Moon Bear and The Well-Dressed Bear Will (Never) Be Found, during his career. His short fiction and comics have appeared in publications like PEN America, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Sonora Review, Hobart, among others.

Attendees will receive a complimentary copy of Red Panda & Moon Bear during the workshop. The graphic novel tells the story of two Cuban American kids that fight supernatural evil in their neighborhood with science and magical hoodies.

The event is in collaboration with the Miami Book Fair and the Big Read, a program funded through the National Endowment for the Arts that aims to promote literary engagement across the United States.
