Hialeah Campus Appoints New Campus President

Georgette Perez was appointed as the new president of the Hialeah Campus.

Perez, 47, will oversee all academic and administrative functions for the campus starting on Aug. 15. She replaces Anthony Cruz, who is now serving as the Kendall Campus president.

“I grew up in Hialeah, so to be able to continue doing what I love in a community I am extremely fond of is truly amazing,” Perez said. “My career has come full circle.”

Before joining MDC in 2000, Perez worked in multicultural affairs, student activities and leadership programs at Weber State University in Utah for three years.

At Miami Dade College, she has worked in testing, the new student center and as the director of the Student Achievement Initiatives. Most recently, Perez served as the dean of student services at North Campus for the past nine years.

After obtaining her associate’s degree from North Campus in 1993, Perez transferred to the University of Florida. She earned a bachelor’s in psychology in 1995 and master’s degree in student personnel administration in 1997 both from UF. Last May, she graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a doctoral degree in higher education.
