The Miami Dade College Museum of Art and Design will open Forensic Architecture: True To Scale exhibit on Feb. 19 at the Freedom Tower, 600 Biscayne Blvd., at 6 p.m.
The exhibit, on display until Sept. 27, uses architectural computer software to show state and corporal violence around the world. It will show the relationship between truth, and how it is interpreted in the public realm, through the use of photogrammetry, audio analysis and augmented reality.
Footage in the exhibit is gathered by Forensic Architecture, a research agency made up of architects, software developers, filmmakers, journalists and others that analyze human rights violations around the world. Their work has been used in parliamentary inquiries, United Nations assemblies and publications worldwide.
The opening reception will commence with a discussion with Eyal Weizman, founder and director of Forensic Architecture.
Several videos will show investigations into human rights violations, such as The Killing of Harith Augustus, a six-part short film that counters the Chicago Police Department’s claim that the fatal 2014 shooting of Harith Augustus was a “split-second” decision.
