HIV Testing Available To Students At Homestead Campus

Homestead Campus, 500 College Terrace, will host Getting 2 Zero HIV Testing on Feb. 18 at 9 a.m. outside the F building.

Students and members of the community will have the opportunity to be tested for sexually transmitted diseases and learn more about effective contraception and preventative measures.

They can be tested by visiting one of the mobile units, where representatives from the Florida Department of Health will ask questions and administer the exam. It tests for human immunodeficiency virus, gonorrhea, chlamydia and syphilis.

The event will be hosted in observance of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day on Feb. 7.

It will also kick off the Getting 2 Zero Awareness Week, a FDOH initiative that aims to bring awareness to effective medical treatment and negative stigmas for people affected by HIV/AIDS.

For more information, contact Nicole Bryant at (305) 237-5223 or nbryant@mdc.edu.
