Interested In Journalism? Join The Reporter

Miami Dade College’s award-winning student newspaper, The Reporter, is looking for people interested in writing, reporting, photography, illustration and graphic arts.

The newspaper, which was launched on Oct. 4, 2010, covers all eight MDC campuses. It has newsrooms at North Campus, 11380 N.W. 27 Ave., Room 4209, Wolfson Campus 300 N.E. Second Ave., Room 1610 and Kendall Campus, 11011 S.W. 104 St., Room M239.

During the past 12 years, the paper’s staff has won four National Pacemakers from the Associated Collegiate Press and 163 awards from the Florida Community College Publications Association including 98 first-place honors. The publication has been named the top community college student newspaper in Florida 11 years in  a row.

Juan S. Gomez, 21, is a psychology major in The Honors College at the Kendall Campus. Gomez, who graduated from Robert Morgan Educational Center in 2021, will serve as editor-in-chief, briefing editor and forum editor for The Reporter during the 2022-2023 school year. He aspires to become a social sciences professor.
