Kendall Campus Appoints New Dean Of Faculty

Jorge Michael Cuellar has been selected as the new dean of faculty at Kendall Campus. He started on May 27 but has served on an interim basis since last September.

Cuellar will continue to work in conjunction with academic affairs to provide faculty with resources to enhance student learning.

“One of the most important things for me is continuing to support faculty which I believe goes hand in hand with helping students as well,” Cuellar said. “I want to be one of the small pieces in others’ lives to help them reach their maximum potential.”

The 45-year-old served as an adjunct professor in the mathematics department at Kendall Campus beginning in 2005. He has also taken on roles such as the chairperson of the Liberal Arts Department at West Campus, director of the Math and Science Study Center and the STEM TOP program director both at Kendall Campus.

After obtaining an associate’s degree in mathematics from Miami Dade College in 2001, Cuellar graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Florida International University three years later. He also earned a master’s and doctorate degree in higher education leadership and administration in 2012 and 2017 respectively from Capella University.
