Koubek Center To Host Creative Writing Teen Program

The Miami Book Fair will begin an eight-week run of the teen creative writing and performance program entitled Speak Up on Feb. 3 at the Koubek Center, 2705 S.W. 3rd St.

Sessions are held every Monday between 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. for teenagers aged 13-19.

Speak Up helps young artists develop their talents through spoken word performances, including creative writing workshops, open-mic sessions, student readings and opportunities to compete in regional poetry slam competitions.

The program aims to boost literacy rates among young adults in Miami by helping them hone their creative writing skills.

There are no costs attached to the program, or deadlines to sign up.

Applications are available at mdc.formstack.com/forms/2020_speak_up_spring

For more information, contact the Miami Book Fair at (305) 237-3258 or visit www.miamibookfair.com/speakup/.
