Lady Sharks Enter State Tournament As Second Seed

Miami Dade College enters the Florida College System Athletic Association volleyball state tournament as the second-seeded team in the Southeast District.

The Lady Sharks, who finished with a 14-3 record and are ranked fourth in the nation, will play their first game on Nov. 5. They will face the winner of the Indian River State College and Daytona State College game.

Tournament play will take place from Nov. 5 through Nov. 7 at the Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers.

Outside hitter Romina Cornelio leads the Lady Sharks with 4.6 points and 3.98 kills per set and defensive specialist Kiaraliz Perez is first on the team with 5.66 digs per set.

“[We] are very happy to have made it to the state tournament,” said outside hitter Janelly Ceopa. “But we have to keep working hard because the coaches have told us the competition at the tournament is tough.”
