Architecture professor, Mario F. Ortega, recently received a top-honors award from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Miami Chapter.

The AIA Miami Chapter recognizes each year contributions in design, construction, and public service related to architecture, the building arts and urban designs.

Ortega was presented with the award for Writing about Architecture for his publication of the Miami Dade College Europe-Russia Architecture Study Abroad Program Book.

Among other awards the Architecture professor has received are the Institutes Education Leadership Award in 2008 and an honors award for his 2009 documentation of the College’s first volume of architectural student work.

Ortega claims that if it weren’t for his students dedication and the success of his architecture study abroad program, receiving the award would not have been possible.
