MDC Foundation Appoints New Chief Operating Officer

Julia Vives has been selected as the new chief operating officer at the Miami Dade College Foundation. She started her post on Feb. 14.

Vives, 37, is responsible for managing the foundation’s databases, donor relations, serving as a liaison for the board of directors and working with their chief executive officer.

“I’m looking forward to bringing the knowledge and skills I’ve gained in my previous roles to help steward the investments made by our donors to support our students,” Vives said. “There is incredible potential for this Foundation and I’m looking forward to working with our team to ensure every student has access and opportunity.”

Before coming to Miami Dade College, she served as the vice president and chief operating officer at The Miami Foundation where she worked for 11 years.

Vives previously served as executive assistant of the Children’s Home Society of Florida and Dutko Worldwide. She was also the administrative assistant at the University of Miami alumni programs and the administrator of the Estate Planning Council of Greater Miami.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology, with a minor in marketing, from Loyola University in New Orleans.
