Renowned choreographer and dancer Nora Chipaumire will perform in collaboration with South African singer and activist,Miriam Makeba, at the Light Box Goldman Warehouse, 404 NW 26 Street, on Jan. 24 and 25th.
Co-presented with MDC Live Arts, the event will begin at 8 p.m.
Chipaumire studied dance formally and informally in Zimbabwe, Cuba, Jamaica and the United States. She is a graduate of the University of Zimbabwe’s School of Law.
The show will depict a deeply personal dance-theater performance that looks closely at the tension women face between public expectations and private desires, between selflessness and ambition, and the sacrifice of feminine ideal.
Original music will be played by Cuban pianist Omar Sosa.
