MDC Student Government Association Rallied In Tallahassee

Fifty delegates from Miami Dade College Student Government Association advocated for student rights at Rally in Tally Feb. 1 and 2 in Tallahassee.

SGA delegates represented the student body on issues ranging from state funding to providing in-state tuition for students who are U.S. citizens, but whose parents are undocumented.

“The financial crisis affecting our state is directly impacting our student body with tuition increase,” said SGA president of Kendall Campus, Ruben Gomez. “Our stance was strong and we opposed.”

Along with the SGA members from MDC, 28 other colleges were present in the annual event where students have the opportunity to speak to state legislators on behalf of their student body.

“It was great to see the passion and motivation that the student government delegates displayed to our legislators,” Gomez said.
