Miami Dade College volleyball player Luyeisy Marquez-Moreno was named the Female Athlete of the Year by the Florida College System Activities Association.
The award recognizes her performance and impact throughout the 2025-26 year, which led to a National Junior College Athletic Association Division I National Championship for the Lady Sharks.
Marquez, an outside hitter, was the offense’s catalyst. She finished the season with a team-high 453 points and 384 kills. Her play earned Marquez NJCAA Division I Player of the Year and First Team All-America honors while the team finished with a 29-2 mark.
Marquez will continue her volleyball career at Florida Atlantic University next season.
“I’m beyond grateful for being named female athlete of the year. I worked super hard the past year before our fall season of 2025,” Marquez said. “I knew coach Kiko needed more from me after our 2024 season and I wanted to be able to show that to him and also just work extra hard to be a better teammate to support my team on and off the court.”
