Medical Campus SGA President Appointed Board Of Trustees Student Representative

Shiba Tashisha Gayle, a nursing student at Medical Campus, was selected as the Student Government Association Board of Trustees representative on May 28.

Gayle, who will serve as SGA president for her campus during the 2024-25 school year, will represent students at Miami Dade College’s eight campuses during Board of Trustees meetings.

“I look forward to helping more with students…because there’s several concerns and questions that students have,” Gayle said.

Outside of the College, Gayle is a member of the National Black Nurses Association and has been working as a lead medical assistant at Mount Sinai Medical Center since 2012.

The 34-year-old, who aspires to become a nurse practitioner, graduated from Brown Mackie College’s medical assistant program in 2010. Eleven years later, she attained an associate in arts in pre-nursing from MDC. Shiba is slated to complete an associate in science in nursing in December and will pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing at MDC.
