Miami Bayside Foundation/Commissioner Willy Gort Scholarship

The Miami Bayside Foundation/Commissioner Willy Gort Scholarship Program will award $200,000 in scholarships during the 2015-16 academic year. The funds aim to bolster the City of Miami’s efforts to close the opportunity gap by providing a college education to the underrepresented youth of District 1.

Applicants must be residents of District 1 in the City of Miami, United States citizens or eligible non-citizens, graduated high school and planning to attend George T. Baker Technical College, Lindsey Hopkins Technical College or Miami Dade College on a full-time basis, and be a part of the list of approved programs which can be found on the website.

If applicants meet the eligibility requirements, they must complete FAFSA paperwork, complete the application, and secure a current high school transcript. All materials must be sent to: Tina Cornely, Miami Bayside Foundation, 25 SE 2 Avenue, Suite 240 Miami, FL 33131.

Recipients will be chosen based on their ability to demonstrate dedication to scholarship; their participation and excellence in school and community activities; the students’ personal statements defining goals; and exhibit energy and dedication to a plan. The scholarship is ongoing and the reward amount varies but recipients will be notified at the start of the spring/winter term.
