Miami Dade hires former Lady Shark Gina De Aguero to lead softball program

Gina De Aguero is coming back home. The former Miami Dade College softball player has been named the new Lady Sharks head softball coach.

De Aguero graduated in 1999 with an Associate of Arts degree in Education from the Kendall Campus and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science Studies in Secondary Education from St. Thomas University in 2003.

In addition, De Aguero previously served as the assistant softball coach at St. Thomas University. De Aguero is currently a special education teacher at the Atlantis Academy in Miami and was the head coach of the Miami Lady Canes travel team.

De Aguero will be replacing Carlos Caro, who won the 2011 state championship and the 2010 national championship. Caro was dismissed on Oct. 25. College officials did not give specific reasons for his dismissal.
