MOAD Showcases Celia Cruz Exhibition At Hialeah Campus

The Museum of Art and Design, in collaboration with the Celia Cruz Foundation, is honoring the 100th anniversary of Cuban singer Celia Cruz’s birth with the exhibition Celia Cruz: Work.

It will be on display through Feb. 15 at the Hialeah Campus Art Gallery, 1776 W. 49th St, Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Celia Cruz: Work showcases photographs, videos, posters and wigs and gowns that belonged to the beloved singer, who passed away in 2003.

Visitors can also watch a short and private documentary about Cruz’s life.

“We often focus on the stage persona, but not all of the sacrifice that goes into their performances and their music,” said Amy Galpin, MOAD’s executive director and chief curator. “Celia is a part of our lives.”
