New Chair Of The English Department At North Campus

North Campus has tabbed Fernando Lopez as the new chair of the English and Communications department.

Lopez, who began on Jan. 13, manages the curriculum, ongoing projects and faculty within the department.

“I am most looking forward to collaborating with amazing faculty and staff on innovative and transformative projects that further demonstrate the reason why Miami Dade College is the place to be,” Lopez said.

Lopez previously served as the program director of in-custody offender rehabilitation programming at South Bay Correctional Facility in Palm Beach County. He also pioneered the charter school movement in Florida as a chief collaborator on the District-Charter Collaboration Compacts for the Florida Department of Education

In 1996, he earned his bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Trinity International University, and later graduated with a master’s degree in educational leadership from Barry University in 2002.
